Cell C Playing for Pink 2015 – Ladies Invitational Polo event to put the spotlight on breast cancer
Cell C and Edith Unlimited are pleased to announce a partnership in the Cell C Playing for Pink Polo fundraiser, that will see much needed aid driven to support breast cancer survivors.
The Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo event was held at the Inanda Club in Sandton on 4 October 2015 and will feature a high-energy polo match comprising of female players within each team. The acclaimed South African Lipizzaners will also be among the many attractions guests will experience on the day.
“While the day promises to be a spectacular event, our true aim is to support breast cancer survivors through Reach for Recovery’s Ditto Project, which will be the beneficiary of a percentage of the funds raised,” says event organiser, Edith Venter.
Reach for Recovery, an organisation that leverages the experience and compassion of women in cancer remission to benefit those suffering from this ever-growing disease, launched the Ditto Project to assist with the purchase of prostheses for women from low income groups after having a mastectomy.
“There is now a decent level of support for breast cancer research and medical check ups and we felt that this organisation supplying support to women who have been diagnosed with cancer, or who are dealing with breast cancer treatment, would be a natural progression for the funding,” says Venter.
The Cell C Foundation’s Managing Executive, Suzette van der Merwe says: “The Cell C Foundation has a strong focus on the empowerment of women in South Africa and this cause is one that allows Cell C to empower women, by helping them through the process of recovery and rediscovery.”
Cell C joins the event as the headline sponsor. “This is a very important cause and we are proud to be able to make a contribution to a very worthy organisation through our involvement with the Cell C Playing for Pink Polo event. And as a bonus we are pleased to highlight the exceptional talents these female teams,” says van der Merwe.
The day will be filled with fashion, glitz, glamour, polo, luxury shopping and sticking to the theme of “50 Shades of Pink” – all for a great cause.
A percentage of ticket sales will go to the selected charity’s project.
